A boy and a girl were picking apples. When they finished, they walked back to their house.They stopped and ate half the apples plus a half apple. They went walking again and stopped. They ate half the rest of the apples and a half apple. So they went on and stopped. They ate half the rest of the apples plus a half apple. When they got home, they only had one apple left. How many apples did they start off with?
